How do I swap a shift?

Hand a shift to a coworker — they accept, your manager approves, done.

Requires the Shift Swaps feature to be turned on in Settings → Features.

Can't make one of your shifts? Ask a coworker to take it. You send the request, they accept, and your manager gives the final approval — all from the app.

  1. 1

    Open Shift Swaps

On the Home tab, tap Shift Swaps in the Quick Actions grid. You can also reach it from the More tab.

  2. 2

Tap + to request a swap

The screen is empty the first time — you'll see "No shift swaps yet. Tap + to request one." Tap the + in the top-right corner to open the Request swap sheet.

  3. 3

Choose the shift and a coworker

Under Your shift, pick the upcoming shift you want to hand off. Then under Swap with, choose a coworker — only teammates who are free for that shift appear in the list. Add a Notes message if you like (it's optional), then tap Send request.

  4. 4

    They accept, your manager approves

Your coworker gets the request and can accept or decline it. Once they accept, it goes to your manager for approval. When it's approved, the shift moves to them.

  5. 5

    Track the status here

Come back to Shift Swaps any time. Your requests show under My requests with a status — Pending, Awaiting approval, or Approved — and finished ones drop into History. While a request is still pending, you can Cancel request.

You can also manage shift swaps on the web app at app.atteny.com, but most staff do it right from their phone.

Not sure which shift is yours to swap? Check your schedule first, then come back and request the swap.
