Celebrations and contact visibility

Two people settings sit together on Settings, People: whether Atteny shows birthdays and work anniversaries to the team, and who may see a coworker's phone number.

Team celebrations#

Both switches are off by default. Nothing is shown about birthdays or anniversaries until an admin turns one on.

   Turn the switches on

   Open Settings, People and find the card Team celebrations. Turn on Show birthdays, Show work anniversaries, or both.

   Save the page

   Select Save at the top. It stores everything on the page, not only this card.

   Check that the dates are there

   Birthdays come from each person's date of birth. An employee can always change their own; no setting locks it. Anniversaries come from the start date. Every invitation needs one, so whoever invites the person sets it. The person who created the company has none until an admin sets it on their Employment tab. The tab is listed while Payroll is on. With it off, open the person's profile and replace personal at the end of the address with employment. After that, only an admin can change it on the profile.

   Look at the Dashboard

   The card Team celebrations appears on the web Dashboard of admins, managers and employees alike. It looks 30 days ahead. Each entry carries Today, Tomorrow or the number of days to go. Birthdays come first, then anniversaries, the soonest at the top of each group.

Only active people are listed. A work anniversary is listed from the first full year on, so someone who joined last month is not there. A birthday shows the day and the month, never the year.

Who can see phone numbers#

Contact info visibility, on the same page, decides who sees coworkers' phone numbers. The default is Managers & admins only.

The last manager row changes when Allow managers to see data beyond their own location is on under Manager permissions: a manager then gets the full manager view of every profile. See What managers can see.

Today no page lists coworkers' phone numbers for an employee, on the web or in the app, so Everyone changes what managers see on profiles outside their locations and little else.

The setting covers the phone number only.

The card Profile details has two more switches. Both are off by default.

• Display preferred names: when on, a person's preferred name is shown in place of their first name on screens and in notifications. Someone with no preferred name keeps their first name. Working time records print the legal first name either way.
• Restrict profile pictures to managers: when on, only admins and managers can upload or change a profile photo. An employee's own upload is refused.
