I can't sign in
Work through the usual causes — wrong address, unverified email, no invitation yet, or a suspended company.
You reach the sign-in screen but never your Home screen — a message stops you, or an unexpected Create your company form appears.
It's nearly always the email address. Invitations carry no code: you're matched to your company on the verified email address you sign in with (how joining works).
Find your message
| What you see | What it means, and the fix |
|---|---|
| No invitation found — "This email isn't part of any Atteny workspace yet." | By far the commonest: the address used isn't the invited one, or the invitation expired, was cancelled, or was already used. OK signs you out; sign in with the exact invited address, or ask an admin to check Settings → Invitations. Web wording: "No invitation was found for …". |
| Already in an organization — "You're already part of an organization with this email." | One account belongs to one company, and this one is taken — use a different email address. |
| Access suspended / Account closed | Your company's Atteny account is paused or closed. No admin can undo it — use Contact support on that screen. Mid-join, "Your company's Atteny account is currently inactive…" says the same — in the app it arrives as a Company account inactive alert whose OK signs you back out. The invitation isn't used up and stays claimable: just sign in again later. |
| "Your team is at its plan limit…" (in the app: Team is at its plan limit) | A seat filled between the invite and your sign-in. In the app, OK signs you back out and the invitation stays valid. An admin frees a seat or upgrades, then you sign in again — see Plans and limits. |
On the web: leave "Create your company" alone
Invited, and it appears anyway? Use the Sign out link under it. Submitting it creates a new, empty company, and the account can then never join your employer's. It shows up when your email address isn't verified yet — the match can't run until it is.
Password problems
The app signs you in with Google, Apple, Microsoft, or email and password. With email and password, "Invalid credentials. Please try again." points at the password: tap Forgot password? for an emailed reset code. With two-factor on you'll get "Your account uses two-factor authentication. Please reset your password on the web at app.atteny.com."
When sign-in just stops
When no session is created at all, one of these sits above the sign-in button:
| Message | What's behind it |
|---|---|
| "Sign-in didn't complete (…). Please try again." | Google, Apple, or Microsoft answered, but the flow stayed unfinished — the parentheses hold the technical state. Tap the provider again. |
| "Sign-in requires additional steps. Please try again." | The same with email and password: your account needs a step the app can't ask for — sign in once on the web at app.atteny.com. |
| "Sign-in failed" / "Apple sign-in failed" | The attempt failed with no further reason given. Check your connection and try again. |
These are the app's own messages. When the sign-in service supplies a concrete reason instead — a wrong password, typically — the app shows its wording, so what you see won't always match the text above. In German and Spanish those service-supplied messages are still English.
