Clocking in and out
The full reference for starting a shift, taking breaks and clocking out from the Atteny app.
This is the complete reference for your working day in the app. For the short version, see How do I clock in?.
Starting a shift
- 1
Tap the NFC tag, or open Check In
Hold your phone against the Atteny tag at your location — it opens the app and takes you straight into check-in. Or open the Home tab and tap the Tap to check in via NFC card, which opens the Check In screen.
- 2
Pick how you check in
If your location has a tag, the screen shows Tap NFC Tag to Check In with a Scan NFC Tag button. If it doesn't, you get Manual Check-In — pick your location from the list below.
- 3
Confirm
Tap Confirm Check In. You'll see Checked In! and your shift starts.
While you're on shift
The Check In tab becomes your active shift screen: a live Work time timer, Total work hours today, and a My day log timeline of your shift and breaks so far.
- Start Break pauses paid time; End Break resumes it. See Breaks.
- End Shift clocks you out.
Clocking out
Tap End Shift and confirm. Atteny saves your hours to your timesheet, deducting any break time, and you'll see Clocked Out!. At locations that require a secure tap, you'll be asked to tap the tag again to end a break or a shift.
Most shifts are recorded and closed straight away. If something looks unusual — you're outside the location's radius, or the shift ran longer than your company allows — the shift is sent to your manager for review and shows as Pending Verification. You can add a note explaining what happened.
