Build your first schedule
Plan the week on the Schedules grid and share it with your team — every shift you save is sent to that person straight away.
The Schedules page is where you plan who works when. You build the week as a grid — one column per day — and each shift you save is sent straight to that person's phone. There's no separate "publish" button in Atteny: saving a shift is publishing it, so add shifts when you're ready for the team to see them.
- 1
Open Schedules and pick the week
Go to Schedules in the sidebar. Use the arrows beside the date range at the top to move to the week you want to plan.

- 2
Drag someone from the Employee Pool
Anyone not yet on the schedule appears in the Employee Pool strip above the grid. Drag a card onto the day you want them to work — the shift form opens with that person and day already filled in.
- 3
Or click a day to add a shift
You can also click any empty cell in an employee's row, or select Add Schedule in the top-right corner. Either way the same form opens.
- 4
Fill in the shift and save
Choose the Employee and Location, then set the Start and End date and time. Optionally pick a Role, add Break minutes (for shifts of 6 hours or more) and any Notes. Green and red banners tell you whether the person said they're available. Select Save.
- 5
Repeat until the week is covered
Keep adding shifts. Every shift you save goes live immediately — the assigned employee gets a push and in-app notification right away. That's your schedule published.
Faster ways to fill the week
Once your operating hours and shift demand are set, two shortcuts in the toolbar save you from adding every shift by hand:
- Auto Schedule builds a whole week for you from your operating hours, people-per-shift and everyone's availability — you review the proposal before applying it. See Auto-schedule the week.
- Copy prev week duplicates last week's shifts into the current week, so a steady rota is one click.
Both are covered in depth in Building the week.
What's next
Managers can do all of this from the phone too — the mobile app has the same Manage schedule grid, drag-and-drop and Auto Schedule. Once the week is running and people start clocking in, head to Your first timesheets to review and approve their hours.
