Use the guided setup

Add your first location, roles with hourly pay, and team invites in one short do-it-with-you wizard.

For admins
Updated July 24, 2026

The guided setup is a do-it-with-you wizard that gets the essentials into Atteny in a few minutes. Instead of hopping between settings pages, it collects your first location, your job roles and hourly pay, and your team invitations — all on one screen, one step at a time.

Only administrators can open the guided setup. It writes the core parts of your workspace, so the page is admin-only.
  1. 1

    Open the guided setup

On your dashboard, find the Getting started card and select Run guided setup. You can also go straight to it at /setup.

  2. 2

    Add your first location

On the Location step, enter a Location name — for example, Downtown Café — plus City and Country. This is where your team works. You can add more locations later, so one is enough to start.

  3. 3

    Set roles and hourly pay

On the Roles & pay step, add each job role with its Hours/mo and Rate/hr — for example, Server at €12. Select Add another role for as many as you need. This turns clocked hours into pay, so figures show up across your reports and timesheets.

  4. 4

    Invite your team

On the Team step, type each person's email and pick their role — Employee, Manager or Admin. You can also set their role type, location and hourly rate, or leave those blank for now. Select Add another person to invite more.

  5. 5

    Send invites and finish

Select Send invites & finish. Each person gets an email in their own language inviting them to install the app and join. You'll see a summary of everything you just created.

Every step is optional. Select Skip to move past a step without adding anything, or Back to change an earlier one. Nothing is sent until you finish the Team step.

If you're on the free Starter plan

Starter includes 1 location and up to 5 people. If you've already reached a limit, the wizard swaps the form for a short notice and lets you continue — it simply won't create anything beyond your plan. To add more, upgrade to Pro from Settings → Plan & billing.

The Roles & pay step only appears when the payroll feature is switched on. If you don't see it, that's expected — you can turn payroll on later from your features.

What's next

Once your team accepts their invites, you can build your first schedule and assign shifts. Want to fine-tune what's switched on first? See Choose your features. For more ways to add people — including from the Employees page — read Invite your team.

You can reopen the guided setup any time from the Getting started card on your dashboard, or by visiting /setup directly.
